Photography Project: Texturing Flowers

1407_MFA_Huntington_007-Edit

I love taking photographs of flowers, but I have to admit sometimes I even get bored looking at flower images. I was recently photographing at the Huntington Garden, practicing with my Fuji XE2 and a Fuji macro and captured these images.

I turned to texturing them with layers of different textures I purchased at Flypaper Textures.  Working with textures has made me realize that I need to learn more about color theory.  I knew I wanted a retro blue/green tone to the images, but just layering on a blue texture didn’t really do the job.  There was a lot of experimentation before I got to my final results.  One more thing to add to my bucket list.
