As we rolled into Mount Rainier National Park, Mary and I were looking for a warm up hike to shake the stiffness from our flight and drive. 3.8 miles and 90 stories (900 feel elevation gain) later, we got a bit more than we bargained for.
The Comet Falls trailhead is located four miles east of Longmire on the road toward Paradise. One of the highest waterfalls in the park, Comet Falls was named because it resembles the tail of a comet.
We decided to hang back a bit and use telephoto lenses rather than get up close with wide angle lenses, that can cause some distortion with very tall subjects.
Total time to hike, plus photograph was about three hours. Coming down was almost as hard as going up. Next week more stories and photos from Rainier.
