We continued our public art tour by heading over to Miami’s Design District, where there is a 46 page brochure of all the public art installations along the street.
I thought it was going to be more like an industrial area where design “happens” and things are made. I could not have been more wrong. It was like a Visual Vegas.

But first we had to get parked. These are not just ordinary garages, they are also public art installations. It seems that everyone that chose the same garage we did, was inspired by the F1 race this upcoming weekend. Cars were racing through the steep vertical spirals of the garage at warp speed. Mark was a viable competitor- the way that man can handle a mini-van is mind blowing.

But back to art, imagine the stores of Rodeo Drive but with wild and wacky art installations along the street and in front of the stores. Damien Hirst even created a beautiful blue walkway for Tiffany. I can’t remember having this much fun wandering around a shopping center.

After an hour at the Institute of Contemporary Art, we were ready for food. Within a 3 minute walking distance there were 2 one-star Michelin restaurants and one Michelin Bid Gourmand. Peter was definitely in his element. I’m really glad formless billowing dresses are in style right now.
