The very busy and popular Koosah and Sahalie Falls are 34 miles from Sisters and 57 miles from Bend, but well worth the drive. They are both spectacular.

Each has a parking lot with about a dozen spaces and another dozen in overflow parking along OR 126. If you don’t want to wait for a parking spot, get there by 9 AM. There is a scenic walking loop around both falls that is 3 miles, but the direct walk between the two falls is just .5 miles, uphill from Koosah to Sahalie.
Koosah has one, ONE, good spot for a photo that is a five minute walk from the parking lot. You can also bushwhack down the hill to the river, but it’s wet and slippery.
On the walk up to Sahalie, there are hundreds of cascades that are very picturesque.

As you approach Sahalie, there are 1-2 excellent spots for your tripod at the lookout and two other marginal locations where you will have to fight the overhanging trees. However, that won’t be the only fighting you’ll do as the parking lot is just a few steps away and you’ll be jockey with dogs, families, friends, and selfie-takers.

Mary, Chuck, and I spent a delightful two hours at this location.

Pro Tip: look for the waterfall rainbows between 10-11 AM on a clear day.
