On our final morning in Acadia, we planned a sunrise shoot at the Bubble Pond. However, I misinterpreted the information in my Acadia National Park Hiking and Biking Trail Map and the “official” Park map. There is NO parking at the Bubble Pond, only a bus stop. Well, our full crew decided at 6 AM, we would divert to the Jordan Pond which was a fortuitous decision.
Jordan Pond is usually the busiest location in Acadia, but at 6 AM we had the place to ourselves while plopping down at the end of the pond for the best sunrise location. After rain the previous evening there was even water in the creek under the stone bridge.

It was pretty overcast and we satisfied ourselves with decent reflection shots of the fall color in the pond. And then the sky lit up like a Christmas tree and we had beautiful pinkies for about five minutes.
Sometimes the photo just makes itself, but only if you show up, chose a good location and a good angle, and have a little patience. Sometimes, you get a big reward.
