You know it’s a good day when an item gets checked off the old bucket list. Yes, this evening we saw and photographed mitten-on-mitten.

Like almost any accomplishment, this one is both difficult and easy. All you have to do is plan to be here on the right days, make the long trip out here, pay for overpriced rooms, and have the right weather. Then just set up the camera and push the button. Both, that simple, and that complicated.

We set up on the canyon rim in between the campground and the cabins.

Sunset was at 7:30 PM and it was all gone, just like that. It was a thrilling 30 minutes watching the shadow creep up the East Mitten.
