Last night at dinner, I was pondering out loud “Would I rather face torrential winds or torrential rains?”. I was leaning toward wind. My rationale was that I would not have to worry about keeping my equipment dry and the lens clear of droplets. “Wind would be easier to manage” I told myself.
Today cosmic karma delivered. We had a few droplets…and 20-40mph wind. I didn’t even need an assist to get up the steep embankment near the ship wreck because the wind blew me up the ridge and shoved me over the top.
But back to photography. I’ve heard Snæfellsnes described as a microcosm of all of the types of things you can find on the island. In just a short 90-minute drive we managed to photograph all of Peter’s favorite subjects: churches, sea arches, waterfalls, shipwrecks, and lighthouses. Snæfellsnes seems to be more touristed than the Westfjords. We very quickly found out we no longer had the place to ourselves when we arrived at parking lots that can many cars.
Here is the day in photos.
