Wild Goose Chase: Finding Plotz Plot in Arizona

Do you like wild goose chases and totally absurd locations? We have a few, but none like this one. Mary has collected hundreds of weird locations for us to explore in Arizona. While on Interstate 40/Route 66, you have to find this place. It’s remote, but not that hard to get to.

As avid readers of Atlas Obscura, we pinned this place after an article we read (attached at the end of this blog post). We were already in Winslow and coming back from the Petrified Forest National Park (near Holbrook). You really don’t need GPS, just exit at Adamana near the Painted Desert Indian Center and drive old Route 66 east toward the Petrified Forest. When the pavement runs out in about 5 miles, make a right onto the continuing direct road and make a left at the first dirt road (watch out for cattle). By this time you can see the orange shed on the horizon.

The code to get in is 4444. There is a guest book on a small table next to the door. You are to leave something that helps with a transition in your life. Have fun exploring and good luck.

Here is the link to the short article about the shed and its history and purpose.
