The Bodie State Historic Park is a California gold-mining town. It is abandoned now, but open to the public to view. This was our third trip to this little playground. Here is what you might see.

Only a small part of the town survives, while the Park Service keeps the place in a state of “arrested decay.” At one time it boasted it had as many as 10,000 residents.

We used both color and infrared cameras. Mary usually is looking for the little details and I am looking for the grand statement. At Bodie, it is easier to find both.
Bodie is 32 miles from Lee Vining on CA Highway 395 and is a must see when you are visiting Mono Lake and other Eastern Sierra Nevada sites.
Here is our popular blog post about Bodie with more details.
