Last Dollar Road – Southwestern Colorado

Mary setting up her shot at the north entrance of the Last Dollar Road

This is the last blog from our Southwestern Colorado trip (Ouray, Ridgway, Telluride, Silverton).  Last Dollar road is a Class One dirt road easily traversed with a passenger car in dry weather.  It is south of Ridgway and the Dallas Divide and cuts through toward Telluride.  We scouted this road for our fall trip as it is filled with Aspens.  Here are some of our better shots.

Near the north entrance is a great shot of the road, a crisscross fence and the Sneffels Range in the distance.

After driving about two miles you will hit the Last Dollar Ranch.  There is a clear view to the Sneffels Range and another long crisscross fence.

We stayed for a half hour in this one spot as the light kept changing as the clouds moved through.

We will definitely be back in the fall as there are several excellent lookouts with aspens in the foreground and mountains in the back.  To see more of our photographs, please go to www.pamphotography.com.
