Discovering Photoshop’s Pinch Filter

Sea Glass Abstract - To find out more about this image click here

I seem to be going through one of my “extreme” phases.  I’ve been working with a series of filters that I categorize as extreme – ones that help me explore and provide an additional outlet for creativity.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned playing around with sea glass on my light box.  The source image was from those I captured at that time.

To create the abstract I removed the large bubble in the blue piece of glass, applied Photoshop’s pinch filter a few times, copied the image to additional layers and rotated them to fill in the open spaces, and then finally applied Flaming Pear’s Aetherize filter.  The end result reminds me of a watercolor.
